Four very good years.

Today is my wedding anniversary. If you have read my book you may have noticed that my husband, Matt, gets a little mention. Okay, a big mention. It’s dedicated to him.

Four years ago we stood together and promised to love each other when it was easy and when it was not so easy. And, as you know, it’s not always easy. But he makes it look that way. Kinda like those Cirque Du Soleil acrobats that swing about like it’s no biggie when clearly every single muscle is working in glorious perfection. He (calmly and confidently) loves me right on through all the tough patches and makes it look like a piece of cake…when even I don’t like my own company sometimes! I’ve always said he has a special talent for kindness, the type of talent that can so easily go unappreciated, and in our marriage he lavishes that talent on me and thank goodness for it. Without him, his kindness and enduring faith in me, I doubt I would have written that book, started this blog or had the courage to do a good many things. Happily ignoring the risk of sounding terribly sentimental – I do love him to the moon and back.

Thank you for your kindness, Matt, and your love. It has been four very (very!) good years and it’s just the beginning. Aroha, H.

Aw, happy anniversary, you two! You’re spot on with Matt’s talent for kindness. I wish that was a thing, as in, he could enter a talent competition and the announcer would say, “And now, Matthew Ballesty performing an act of kindness!” And, which he would win, of course.
