Love, tea and retro chic.

Kendall and I attempting a retro-housewife look. Clearly hilarious.

My little sister is a bride. Sigh.

In case you were wondering what on earth I have been up to lately, on January 7th 2012, my sister married her high-school sweetheart as the skies opened up over Aotearoa to throw down a ton of rain and friends and family whooped and cheered and cried. At one point in the ceremony I had to stop myself from sobbing (and ruining my mascara!) by noticing all the sweet details in the moment to save for later. The raindrops gathered like beads on the edge of the marquee, the smells of wet stones and fresh flowers, the beautiful and solemn gray of the sky….

But before all of that…we had a Hen’s night. Well, more of an afternoon that slid into evening, accompanied by nostalgic rock tunes. My sister is a crafty, domestic goddess kinda gal so we decided that an old fashioned, 1950’s style, housewives tea party was in order. Things were baked, games were devised, pinafores were donned. I was in charge of a game involving guessing types of tea (happy with that job!) and ordering pizzas once gals had gotten rowdy on Pimms punch and needed savoury sustenance. It was such a fun day I just had to share some photos.

Enough baked goods to feed a small (sweet of tooth) army.

My Grandmother's gorgeous tea sets

Bride plus maids.

So, to love, to tea, to my most beautiful sister and a lifetime of domestic happiness…Cheers!

Here's to love!
