Pokey.

Pokey LaFarge

Anyone else feeling a little scruffy about the edges after Easter? I have a bad case of can’t-be-bothered-s.

I’m convinced that the eggs-treme chocolate eating I indulged in over the weekend has me feeling eggs-hausted and lacking in motivation. I have a to-do list glaring at me from my diary and I keep ignoring it. I’d normally get myself something sweet to start the engines but, well, I think that’s what got me into this mess in the first place. Curses to you Messieurs Lindt, Green & Blacks, Cadbury…

In case you too need a little cheering or revving up, take a listen to this guy, Pokey LaFarge, bought to you by NPR music’s “Tiny Desk Concerts”. Twenty-seven year old Pokey is a bolt out of the 1920’s / 1930’s, all peppy and suit wearing. He will make you feel better, I promise.

Click on THIS and press play. Go on…

Thanks (again, always) to the magnificent Design*Sponge for alerting me to Pokey and his band, South City Three. So the key, it seems, to feeling more alive is to get some Pokey in your day.

…Good Lord, did she just write that?

That music makes me so happy–and I was already happy! Just throw a banjo in there and it’s almost better than chocolate cake. Come to think of it, what goes better with 20’s folk-swing than chocolate cake? Now where can I find some….
