The Colour of Tea.

Here it is. The journey that started with a single step, 1,000 words a day and a wisp of an idea.

I once asked an author if she imploded when she saw her name in print or fainted when her book was racked up on bookshelves. She gave a strange kind of laugh. I was curious as to why she wasn’t jigging down the street and throwing herself ticker tape parades. Now I get it. It is wonderful but also dizzying. Stunning. Surreal. I’m still reeling. Despite the months and months of effort, it is like finding the golden ticket – “Really, me? No. Really?” So very exciting and yet feels a smidge fraudulent, as if I snuck into a guest-list only party. Can’t tell you what will happen when the actual book is in my hands. Too, too thrilling…

Huge thanks to the incredible (understatement) folks at Pan Macmillan Australia and the wonderful (oh man, BIG understatement) family and friends who gave me so much loving support.

Chuffed.

I am so immersed in your book, I put my children to bed an hour early last night, put the electric blanket on and disappeared to Macau with Grace. It is a beautifully written novel. thank you.
